About Me

I used to be a UNIX systems admin, but got tired of the corporate games. Now I work for myself. I'm still good with the computers, though (grin).

What about Nifong?

Does anyone believe that Mike Nifong was stupid enough to throw his career away by his reckless prosecution of three Duke lacross players without having gotten away with the same thing before?

It is my belief (no proof, just a contention) that he must have thought he could get away with it. Why? Because it wasn't the first time that he threw ethics out the door on his way to the courthouse. I would like to see the mainstream media take a hard, critical look at his history as a prosecutor and DA. I would not be surprised to find several, if not many, people who were convicted with prosecutorial misconduct on Nifong's part, even before he became the DA. The judges that heard his cases don't appear to be all that interested in justice, one ignored the law regarding a citizen's petition regarding Nifong by not acting within the time the law stated. Nifong probably thought "This won't be the first time that Judge so-and-so let me get away with improper actions."

One doesn't just don't start out with a vainglorious nuclear-weapon-grade self-destructive episode. One builds up one's confidence with many smaller firecracker-grade lapses in ethical conduct prior to the finale. Even if the mushroom cloud is rather spectacular.
